Environmental Clearance Update
Recently, the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change granted in-principle approval for the diversion of 17.57 hectares of forest land required for the bypass construction. However, the ministry emphasized that transfer of forest land cannot proceed until final approval is granted under Section 2 of the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980.
This clearance is a crucial step, as the Zirakpur-Panchkula Bypass will help decongest NH-5 and NH-7, which currently face heavy traffic flow through highly urbanized stretches of Zirakpur and Panchkula.
